A demigod princess stumbles upon a shocking discovery: a magic-powered machine with enough heart to become her little sister, and enough power to destroy her world.
Cass, the hot-headed “Lightning Princess” of a hidden magical city and granddaughter of Zeus, spends her days arguing with her father and sneaking out of the prison she calls “home.” That all changes when her treasure-hunting best friend invites her on a secret expedition to a faraway island.
By chance or by fate, Cass unseals an ancient ruin and meets Gally—a life-like machine straight out of the pages of Greek myths. Why was she kept down there, and why could Cass open the seal?
To find answers, Cass takes her new “sister” to the prestigious—and totally unsafe—Solomon Academy of Magic. Student population: angels, demons, shifters, dragons, and a handsome jerk who won’t leave her alone.
Cass will need to deal with classes, exams, boys (ewww), and death-defying adventures at school and beyond if she hopes to unravel the mysteries behind Gally…and herself.
But those answers may place her, the academy, and the world in far greater danger than she could have possibly imagined…
Suit up in your academy uniform. She’s going to take the class by storm…
From the Book:
Caelia Cassia, the troublesome “Lighting Princess” of Albalon and the demigod granddaughter of Zeus, hung suspended in the air of the treacherously deep chasm. A single, fraying rope was all that kept her from plummeting to her death in the yawning abyss.
Locks of curly blond hair snaked out from under a bright-yellow helmet that rested atop her head. The humans called it a “hard hat,” apparently. She hated wearing it, but Adam insisted on it.
Through a pair of crimson goggles, she stared at the sky through the hole above. Gray and gloomy.
That figures, she thought. The rain follows me wherever I go.
Violent winds howled through the shaft and rustled her clothes. Brrrr! So chilly! A far cry from the balmy air in her home city of Ouranopolis. Part of her wished she was back at the palace, resting her feet on an ottoman and munching on fresh, golden Ziva grapes.
She shook and cleared her head.
I need to focus. One wrong move and I’ll…
She stared into the void below. A lump formed in her throat. Butterflies fluttered frantically in her stomach. She took a deep breath, then planted her legs on the mud-caked cave wall.
Solid enough. Good.
She pushed off and swayed with the rope. Using the momentum, she continued to push her feet on and off the wall.
As she descended further into the dim and pungent cavern, a boyish voice chirped from her wrist Artifice.
“Hey, Cass, do you read me?”
“Loud and clear, Adam.” She wiped beads of sweat from her forehead. “Got any readings from up there?”
“Gimme a minute.” A series of strange whirring and clanking sounds squawked from the communicator. “Seems like you’ve got another 50 feet or so until you hit the floor.”
“I must admit, I’m still rather nervous about all this.”
“You’re doing just fine. Let’s meet up at the bottom.”
“Understood.”
She checked the harness and made sure it was still tight enough. Nice and taut. She’d gone about a dozen feet down when something scratched her cheek. A brief yet sharp sting flared in her nerves.
“What was that?”
